Matching Gifts
Ever wish you could multiply your gift to Cedar Valley
Habitat for Humanity? Here is a way-employer matching
contributions. Thousands of companies have Matching Gift
programs which double, or even triple individual,
tax-deductible contributions made by their employees.
Ask your personnel office about your company's Matching
Gift program.
Planned Giving
Many of our partners support Habitat through planned
gifts, which may qualify for significant tax deductions.
Giving options include bequests, charitable gift
annuities, and charitable remainder trusts. To find out
how you can financially benefit Cedar Valley Habitat for
Humanity and provide a lasting legacy, contact us at

Stocks and Bond Gifts
A charitable gift of stocks or bonds provides an
opportunity for tax savings while generously sharing
with others. A gift of stock owned for more than one
year entitles you to a charitable deduction for the full
market value at the time the gift is made. If the stock
has appreciated, you also avoid a capital gains tax on
the appreciation. In addition to helping Cedar Valley
Habitat for Humanity, you may diversify away from
low-basis, long-term holdings into other assets that
will better suit your current needs. If you would like
to discuss a gift of stocks or bonds, please call us at
(319) 366-4485.
Corporate Development
What can business do? There is something for every
business:
- Make an annual contribution
- Provide a work crew
- Post information about home owning opportunities
- Fund a specific piece of the construction
process or the sponsorship of a house
A business that has $15,000-$40,000 to invest could
become a house sponsor at the $15,000, $30,000 or
$45,000 level. The business may or may not provide
volunteers.
A business in the construction industry may be able
to offer plumbing, heating, electrical or building
materials supplies or services. (Perhaps a plumber would
offer the plumbing for one house - or Habitat would buy
the materials and the subcontractor would volunteer the
labor for a tax-deductible contribution).
A builder may give the gift of time by volunteering
one day or many as a crew leader. One of the greatest
needs on the construction site is persons of skill who
are willing to teach and lead 4-6 unskilled volunteers
in a specific task.
A business not in the construction industry may be
able to assist Habitat with more than funds, i.e., stock
office supplies, prepare and serve meals for
construction volunteers, include Habitat info in
customer mailings, and/or provide volunteers to special
events.
Thank you for considering Cedar Valley Habitat
for Humanity as your charitable giving choice!
