Donating Materials
The ReStore is now accepting donations!!
Your contributions are welcome . . . and needed. Every donation helps Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity to fund house-building projects locally, nationally, and internationally.
Donation guidelines are strict. All items must be reuseable and in very good condition. For details on the guidelines, see below.
If you have an item to donate, or have questions about making a donation, please call (319) 294-1500 or email [ email ]. We appreciate you making delivery of an item part of your donation to the ReStore.

The ReStore does NOT accept the following items: •Appliances •Blinds/curtains/curtain rods •Broken glass •Clothing •Mattresses •Non-working tools or tools needing repair •Oil-based paint •Paint thinner •Stain/Varnish •Toxic or hazardous materials •Unframed glass/mirrors •Upholstered furniture •Used carpet •Used carpet padding •Window pieces/partsThe ReStore ACCEPTS the following items: |
| Brick • Block • Masonry |
· No broken pieces · Must be clean and neatly stacked |
| Cabinets • Countertops |
· Must be up-to-date, free of rot and moisture damage, and in useable condition · Countertops must be clean and new or nearly new |
| Doors |
· Must be in good condition · Hollow core doors must have jamb included · No holes, broken or missing glass, rot, cracks, rust, or separating · Prefer doorknob removed and bagged to sell separately · Storm/Screen doors must have all hardware/accessories included |
| Drywall |
· Full or half sheets only · No watermarks or broken corners |
| Electrical |
· We accept electrical parts, lights, wire, and hardware associated with electrical wiring · Light fixtures must be in working order, clean, and free of rust · Recessed or track lighting only if new and in original packaging · No fluorescent lights or bulbs |
| Fencing |
· Wood or chain link · Must be in good condition · Prefer wood fencing in complete panels · Individual wood slats accepted on a case-by-case basis · Chain link fencing must be at least 10 feet long · No rust, roots, vines, concrete, or wood rot |
| Flooring |
· Carpet, carpet padding, vinyl & wood · We do not accept used carpeting or used carpet padding · No stains, holes, water damage, pet odors, or visible wear · No used material unless all adhesive has been removed |
| Furniture |
· We accept wood or metal furniture in good condition · We do not accept upholstered furniture or mattresses · We do not accept furniture needing repair |
| Hardware |
· We accept SORTED knobs, hinges, cabinet pulls, locks, nails, screws, nuts, and bolts · Must be in good condition and free of rust |
| Landscaping • Lawn & Garden Equipment |
· Accepted on case-by-case basis · We do not accept lawnmowers, weed eaters, or tillers, etc. |
| Lumber • Plywood • Millwork • Trim |
· Stick lumber, sheet lumber, wood casing, wood base, and vinyl base accepted · Sheet material in full or half sheets only · Stick lumber must be 4 feet or longer · Trim/Millwork must be 3 feet or longer · Must be free of rot, bugs, nails, and screws |
| Paint • Wallcovering |
· Full cans of latex paint only · We do not accept paint that has been frozen · We do not accept toxic substances · Wallpaper must be up-to-date and in full, unopened rolls · Wallpaper must have at least 3 rolls of the same pattern |
| Plumbing |
· Fixtures, parts, piping, and supplies · Must be drained, clean, and in useable condition · Toilets must have a tank top · We do not accept yellow, brown, or green toilet, tub, sink, or vanity top unless new in box · We do not accept cracked, chipped, leaking, stained, or rusted sinks, tubs, or shower stalls · We do not accept shower doors, used PVC fittings, or used PVC pipe under 5 feet long |
| Roofing |
· Shingles must be in complete packages · Metal roofing in full lengths if possible · NO roofing scraps, please! · Accepted on a case-by-case basis |
| Siding • Soffit • Gutters |
· Only accepted in large quantities · Accepted on a case-by-case basis |
| Tile |
· Floor and wall tile · Must be unused, unbroken, and clean · Vinyl tile (see Flooring) |
| Tools |
· Hand, garden and working power tools (to be used by CVHH for construction, not for resale) · We do not accept tools needing repair |
| Windows |
· Must be new or nearly new and in useable condition · We do not accept windows with broken glass, seals, or frames · We do not accept cracked or missing windowpanes · We do not accept window sashes or double pane windows that contain moisture · Screens, storm windows, and single pane windows accepted on a case-by-case basis · Must be free of dry rot, rust, or other damage |
