Frequently asked questions

What is Home Team Huddle?
Home Team Huddle is an opportunity for individuals and businesses to host football-themed parties in their house or business on or around Super Sunday and benefit Habitat’s work. How? Party hosts collect donations at halftime for Habitat. Hosts are asked to notify their guests ahead of time that they will be collecting donations for Cedar Valley Habitat at halftime.

Are there prizes?
Yes! Anyone that hosts and or attends and donates is eligible for great prizes including an NFL getaway for two (two tickets to a regular season NFL game next year, hotel and airfare vouchers). And because football is a little competitive … there are also prizes awarded to the three highest earning parties!

Is there a cost?
No. There is no cost to host a party. We only ask that you raise at least $50 to cover the cost of the party pack. Hosts may choose to have a cover charge as part of their own party and use that as the donation. No rules there!

Is this a “national” fundraiser or local?
This is a local fundraiser to benefit the work of Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity which serves Linn and Benton Counties in Iowa. That’s not to say that someone living outside of our general service area can’t host a Home Team Huddle Party!

Can my business/office have a party?
Yes! In fact, many offices have parties on the Friday before the big game! Have a potluck or a “Blue Jean Friday” where employees donate to wear jeans instead of business attire. You can make it whatever you’d like!

Can I have a public party of my own?
Sure you can! You don’t have to host a party in your home. You can arrange with a local sports bar, restaurant or any other venue ahead of time to host your party. Let them know that you’re hosting to help Habitat for Humanity raise funds. Have you considered having a virtual party through Facebook and creating a Facebook fundraiser for Cedar Valley Habitat? If you create a fundraiser for Cedar Valley Habitat, please be sure to select “Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity” and not just “Habitat for Humanity” as this is not a national fundraiser.
