Current events: How COVID-19 affects volunteering
Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity construction sites are reopened with limited volunteer opportunities. Face masks are required and social distancing will be observed. All tools will be sanitized between uses. Additionally, all personnel will be required to sign a COVID-19 safety waiver and bring their own face masks.
Currently there are limited volunteer roles available at ReStore. Electrician positions are most wanted. All personnel will be required to sign a COVID-19 safety waiver and bring their own face masks.
Committees are meeting over video conference or in person with appropriate social distancing and face masks.
Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity
Individual volunteers have made reaching Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity’s goals and achievements possible through their involvement with committees, assistance in the CVHFH office, helping at ReStore, and efforts on construction sites. Currently, individual volunteers and volunteer groups are needed.
In 2021, we plan to serve up to 15 families locally through a combination of new construction, property rehabilitation and repair projects.
You do not need to be an expert in construction to assist on a work site. There are many tasks that require only a willingness to learn and work with others. We make every effort to incorporate all willing volunteers regardless of skill level. All volunteers on the construction site must be at least 16 years of age or older.
We have opportunities for those who are unable to volunteer on a worksite and would like to get involved in other ways. We are currently in need of generous volunteers to donate lunches, snacks, and drinks Tuesday-Saturday to fuel and hydrate our amazing volunteers!
ReStore Volunteer Opportunities
ReStore has climate controlled jobs to accommodate everyone. We need help assisting customers, cleaning, data entry, sorting merchandise, organizing inventory, and processing donations.
CVHFH has several active committees, including Construction, Faith Relations, Development, Family Support, Family Selection, ReStore and Volunteer. View additional CVHFH Committee descriptions for more information.
